The Sustainable Communities Group works with the community to secure a sustainable future for Woolwich Township by promoting environmentally, economically, and socially beneficial practices. It has provided input to the Region of Waterloo Official Plan.

The group recently published the "Woolwich Community Report", the result of over three years of work by dedicated volunteers. The report is a snapshot of Woolwich Township's traditions, activities, and lifestyles. Using stories, comments, pictures, and surveys, the report assesses how well Woolwich is doing in meeting each of the nine guiding principles. The report is available at all public libraries in Woolwich Township, and copies can be obtained at Woolwich Community Services in Elmira or at the Woolwich Community Health Centre in St. Jacobs.
