We Have Work to Do

I have been a resident of Woolwich Township for over 30 years and have been recycling since before it was the ‘thing’ to do. I believe my rural background gave me a good base for the reusing, recycling, and reducing that we have come to promote now. I personally feel that composting is the greatest and thank the Region for donating those nice shiny black composters for our backyards. Maybe neighbours could share their composter? I will share mine. I would like to see the addition of large bins at the transfer station for items such as twigs, shrub, clippings, etc. that are too woody for backyard composting but could be composted on a larger scale or shredded for mulch.

I have worked at several ‘green’ businesses over the years; the most recent is Scavenger Recycle. I find that most people are really very unaware of just what can be recycled as a valuable resource. The Township has many businesses that are using a ‘by-product’ of another industry to create a new, usable product of value. We should all be working toward the goal of one reusable can at the curb and until this happens we have work to do.
