What's the Plan?

Many people don’t realize that an Official Plan exists in Woolwich which directly affects many people’s lives. The Woolwich Township Official Plan, adopted in 1980, determines what land is for farming, housing, or industry. The plan tries to encourage long-range planning and works to balance the needs of economic growth, preserving farmland, creating affordable housing, and protecting our water sources and natural environment. Since the assumptions and perceived needs of the plan are now 18 years old and may not necessarily reflect the concerns and issues facing Woolwich Township now and into the future, the plan will be revised. The Woolwich council and township planners invite everyone to participate in deciding what changes to make. It is expected that the revision process will take approximately two years to complete. For more information call 669-1647.
