How Can We Improve the Quality of the Environment?

  • use less toxic cleaning and construction products
  • keep electrical usage as low as possible
  • support organic farmers - buy organic
  • plant trees around your house, especially deciduous trees on the south side for wind breaks
  • dispose of household hazardous waste properly
  • try to "wean" your lawn off of chemicals - consider planting an alternative to grass
  • drive only when necessary - plan errands to minimize mileage
  • lobby for the protection of wetlands and woodlands during future development
  • plant buffer strips along streams and keep livestock out of streams
  • recycle and reuse everything possible
  • get involved in local environmental issues
