More Hiking Trails to Come in Woolwich!

Walking and hiking are on the rise in Woolwich as we discover the trails in our township and realize the health benefits of this low-impact exercise. As interest in trails rises so increases the initiative to improve and create trails. Three major trails are on their way to criss-crossing the township. The Guelph to Millbanks Trailway is being developed and maintained by several community groups: the Guelph Hiking Trail Group, the Conestogo Winterbourne Optimist Club, the Lions Club of Elmira, the Linwood and District Lions Club and the Golden Triangle Snowmobile Association, along with the assistance of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo and the county of Wellington.

The KW Foundation is supporting the development of the Walter Bean Grand Valley Trail, along the Grand river.

For more information on these new trails and how to donate time or money for bridges, signs, and maintenance please call Dave Sandrock at 725-50002 about the Grand River Trail, 1-877-668-7245 about the Trans-Canada Trail, and Arthur Woods at 669-5101 for the Guelph to Millbank Tralway.

If you would like a guide to Woolwich’s trails for hiking , biking, horseback-riding and skiing fun in your township, ask at your local store or pick one up at Woolwich Community Services or the Woolwich Community Health Centre.
