Churches in Woolwich

Churches are one aspect of Woolwich that makes it welcoming and beautiful. The 33 churches representing 12 denominations in Woolwich Township give us more than a place to worship on Sunday mornings; the church buildings often serve as beautiful historical landmarks and frequently host community meetings and events. A large and welcoming building in the neighborhood is an invaluable resource not to be taken for granted.

Ideally, our churches also give us a sense of belonging to our community by nurturing relationships and faithful living. 62% of Woolwich residents go to church.

"The state of spirituality of Woolwich is one of tension in which there is an increased awareness that God, rather than being aloof watching over his creation as judge, is increasingly experienced as a compassionate human presence sharing in the pain of the struggles, the joys, and visions of life for people personally and for the community as a whole."
- Reverend Clint Rohr
