Buses, Buggies, Cars, and Feet: Getting Around in Woolwich

Public transit in Woolwich suffered this year when the buses which used to run from Elmira to Kitchener ceased their scheduled trips.Elmira Taxi is available for trips in Elmira, around the Township, and into the cities. As well, Elmira Taxi provides a courier service for many businesses. Approximately 1350 students are bussed to school each day.

There are several sources of transportation in Woolwich. Care-ring and the Royal Canadian Legion in Elmira provide rides to doctor and hospital appointments.

Kiwanis Transit is the largest special needs transit provider. It offers an average of 15,600 rides per year to more than 500 elderly and physically and mentally challenged residents in Woolwich and Wellesley, enabling them to shop, work and attend appointments and day programs. Township funding, volunteer drivers and assistants, as well as donations, play a critical role in the success of Kiwanis Transit, Care-ring and Community Care Concepts.
