Sunday January 20, 2 pm: 2 hr skiing and snow shoeing at Sandy Hills Pinery Trail.

From Elmira take Arthur St. North and turn right onto Sandy Hills Dr. Travel approx. 1 km and look for fire # 390 on the south side of the road.

Sunday March 16, 2 pm: 2 hr hike on the Kissing Bridge Trailway/TCT in Elmira.

Enjoy the stone dust trail from Elmira east to the Grand River. Meet in Elmira at the Observer parking lot at 20 Arthur St. North (where the trail crosses Arthur St.). Trail rating: level trail surface but may be slippery at this time of year.

Thurs. April 10, 9:30 am to 12 noon: Hike-on-a-bus.

Learn about Woolwich trails on a bus! The guided tour will provide information on the trails and an opportunity to get out at the trail heads. Please call Ann at 519 669-1647 x 265 to reserve a seat on the bus. Cost is $2. Meet in the Woolwich Community arena parking lot, St. Jacobs (29 Parkside Dr.) at 9:15 am.

Sunday April 20, 2 pm: 2 hr hike on the Health Valley Trail, St. Jacobs.

Join Mark Bauman for birding and hiking. Meet at the kiosk at the trail entrance behind the fire station in St. Jacobs. Take King St. north to Albert St. Turn right or east on Albert and follow to the back of the parking lot to the kiosk. Trail rating: first half is stone dust; second half is natural path.

 

Sunday May 25, 2 pm: 2hr hike on GVT from Rosendale to Victoria St.

Enjoy the spring wildflowers with a wildflower expert! Meet on Hopewell Creek Rd just east of Sawmill Rd (at Rosendale Corners). Trail rating: natural path on varying topography; suitable for intermediate hikers.

Sunday June 22, 2 pm: 2 hour hike and geocache on Lions Lake Trail near Floradale.

Discover geocaching-the adventure that uses GPS to locate hidden “caches” around the world. Join hike leader and veteran geocacher John Robinson for an introduction to this exciting new trend. Meet at the main entrance to the conservation area. From Elmira, travel north on Arthur St. to Reid Woods Dr. Turn left or west on Reid Woods Dr. Travel approx. 1 km to fire # 7224 and enter the CA on the north side of the road. Trail rating: easy, well maintained trail: includes gravel, earthen and grassed sections. Washroom available.

Sunday June 22, 2 pm: 2 hour family hike on the Health Valley Trail in St. Jacobs.

Join Lisa and her family for an easy stroll

on the Health Valley Trail in St. Jacobs. Meet at the kiosk at the trail entrance behind the fire station. Take King St. north to Albert St. Turn right or east on Albert St. and follow to the back of the parking lot to the kiosk. Trail rating: easy walking stone dust trail. Baby buggies are welcome.


 

Sunday Sept. 21, 2 pm: Grand Valley Trail from 3rd Line Pilkington Township to Middlebrook Rd.

Meet Gloria at the east end of Balsam Grove Rd. From Elmira, take Line 86 east to Middlebrook Rd. Go north on Middlebrook Rd to Balsam Grove Rd. Park on Balsam Grove Rd. Trail Rating: natural path on varying topography; suitable for intermediate hikers.

Sunday October 19, 2 pm: 2 hr hike at Schneiders Woods.

Enjoy the fall colours at Schneiders woods! Meet Joy at the access point at the corner of Wideman Rd and the Wilmot Line (Wilmot/Waterloo boundary one concession south-west of Erbsville). Bring drinking water. Trail rating: challenging due to steep hills. No baby buggies or dogs please.

Sunday Nov. 16, 2 pm: 2 hr hike on the Mill Race Trail in St. Jacobs.

Meet in the parking area on Three Bridges Road near the dam and low level bridge (between Hawkesville Road and Henry St.). Trail rating: easy walking stone dust trail; baby buggies and dogs on leashes are welcome.
